Korean tour 2026

The TELETILE Zine Issue. 2

A travel log made with Teletile

It has been a year since we made and had been using Teletile.

Teletile is a web-based drawing app which configures multiple smartphones as a shared canvas. It is a convivial tool you can use with your friends (or perfect ice-breaker to make new ones!). Grab the phone, start a new Teletile and share the link with the others. Then you can tile the phones altogether, and decide what to draw on that irregular shaped canvas!

This tool was developed during the summer 2025 as a combination of multiple events overlapping: an exhibition, a tour, and a book fair scattered around several countries: the Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, and Greece. (you can read more about it here: ) As the tour was kicking off, we committed to draw with the people that we met along the way. Every day we took some time to DIWO, to tile our phones together, to draw and write.

Sometime in chilly winter in 2025, we got invited to do a performance in Korea(!!!).

Chae, one of the DIWO member, who is born and raised in Seoul, was planning to go back to Korea anyways because of her sister's wedding(!!!!!!). Those two events were planned one week after another. Whaaaaat?? CRAZY,,,, Right????? Not to mention that it was Kamo's first time in Korea. Well well well,,,,, we decided to take this chance and that's how DIWO tour in Korea began.

This publication is a snapshot of this process AND a log of our 17 days in Korea. A collection of stories that we have encountered. Shared moments of togetherness mediated by our smartphones & Teletile.

As always, we met many new people, visited many venues, worked until late (ooops), cycled a lot, smelled lots of cherry blossoms...

This time around we noticed that (finally!!) people start to use Teletile on their own! We were soooo thrilled to see some of the drawings not knowing where they are coming from!

In the making of this zine,,,,

  • Kamo worked on a new feature to download the svg file of the tiled drawings. Chae convinced him to also give the option to download as png. To add the teletile to one's smartphone photo album. After many failed attempts, the export function is available online! (To be fair: we are still struggling to position properly all the tiles, as each phone has slightly different ratio. Soon, you will find more about the technical part of Teletile on our website: under the 'writing' tag.)
  • This time, we made our own grid paper with Riso machine! Just 80g white office paper!!! We are mega excited about this direction as the paper won't be jammed anymore (!!!), as we can play with different colored grid with each issue, and as they are really really fitting well with Teletile.
  • We ran out of the rubber bands we got in the supermarket in Bari (IT) T^T... Very sad for this news... We are going to carefully look around the stores for nice rubber bands to bind eheh... For now, some of the editions are still unbound.

Lastly, we suggest you to actively read the seams of the phones, outline of the tiles, various styles of drawings, and inner jokes and relations being formed.

And maybe…
to try to Teletile with the others!
