Drink Draw Distribute

DIWO @ Viterbo

Call it if you want a party game, but drw is actually a tool to explore how technology organizes togetherness and how togetherness affect technology. here the togetherness was also facilitated by a FANTASTIC lemon spiced curry, and some other bottles of wine.
We did unpublic, more cozy, DRW sessh with some new friends, at Lilla & Fransesco's house who hosted us. Due to the whole setup and context, the entire DIWO sessh was very intimate and chill. We started DIWO by having a meal altogether (...Dine It With Others?!). One of Lilla's friend who works in amazing pizzeria brought some fresh pizza hihi. Me and Kamo cooked a nice chickpea lemon curry for all which we got inspiration from our trip to Brussels.
we used drw as an improv device, with people taking turns telling one-minute story and all the others drawing to illustrate it. we had fun. At some point we were rolling dices to decide who was telling the story. I dont remember the stories tho. Maybe it was one continuous story, where everyone had to carry on the previous one. given the setup, there was more space to play live with the styles and aesthetic of the received drawings: sometimes more chaotic caleidoscopes; introducing colors, distortions, trails, and all sort of effects that projected bright turned out to be a bit psychedelic. and other times more starry nights, calm and relazed, such as the one we did during Clara's meditation at the H&D Summer Camp.
usually we share drw with the public, and chae uses the infinite gest to create the backdrop. this time however, there were more people using infinite gest at the same time. chae said it was interesting.
In terms of tools, there were another person in the group who were using infinite gest! I was really happy about this, as this means that ppl in the future could also DIWO with inifite gest combined with DRW. I also noticed Lilla used her iPAD and ipencil to diwo DRW. there were something slightly different in terms of the details of the stroke and the drawing than the one with finger and smartphone. I found it very fascinating as it reveals what kind of tools (finger - apple pencil) you are using and how the DRW software is translating this different tools.
Overall, It was really fun and exciting! I would like to keep trying out drw as an improv device in different occasions and contexts.
